Feeding in the VET-GATE

Especially in long endurance-races (> 100 km; lasting often over 5 or 6 hours), the feeding in the VET-GATE is very important.

During a long endurance-race, 2 health-items are extremely important:

1. Keep digestion working:
It is extremely important to "keep digestion working", which means enough energy should be provided, but also enough fibers (hay, roughage). When digestion stops, it's simple: you 're out!
Therefore, the Reform-Herbal-Muesli fitts perfectly; it offers easy digestible fibers, energy and extra Vit. B- and Vit E. for an optimal performance. Also any HAVENS-Cubes can work-out well, as they provide energy, vitamins, etc. and have a high water-retaining-capacity (see at item 2.). The extra advantage is that both feeds (Reform-Herbal-Muesli or e.g. DraversBrok or Ebdurance-Compact-Cubes) are very sweet, so even when very tired, the horse will like to eat.

2. Ensure sufficient waterintake:
Moreover, water is also an extremely important "nutritional factor", as endurance-horses (like any athletes) will dehydrate during the race.
Therefor, the feed (given before and during the race) should be able to retain as much water as possible. Reform-Herbal-Muesli or any HAVENS 7 mm-cube have a high water-retaining capacity; they can help improve the horse's condition during the race.

For these situations, HAVENS nutritionists have also developped a special Endurance-Feed (HAVENS Endurance-Compact), which is used by specialised stables and can be ordered on demand.
